比較級、最上級

　ものの度合いを比べる場合は、形容詞、副詞の形を変えて表す。

　形容詞、副詞の語尾に "er" をつけ、比べるものの前に "than" をおく。

私は背が高い。	君は背が高い。	→	君は私より背が高い。
I am tall.	You are tall.	→	You are	taller	than	I.
				比較級	〜より	主格

　"twice (〜 times)" + "as" + 形容詞・副詞 + "as"

２倍	twice
３倍からは	数 + "times"	(three times, four times.....)

This house is twice as large as mine.
この家は私の家の２倍だ。

　同じ名詞の反復を避けるため、単数なら "that"、複数なら "those" で代用する。

Students in America study harder than	students	in Japan.
	↓
Students in America study harder than	those	in Japan.

　形容詞、副詞の語尾に "est" を付ける。

　形容詞の最上級には必ず "the" を付ける（名詞の意味が限られるため）。

You are the tallest in the class.
君はクラスで一番背が高い。

He runs	fastest	in the class.		This is	the fastest	car in the world.

彼はクラスで最も速く走る。				この車は世界で最も速い車だ。

　"as" + 形容詞・副詞 + "as"

私は背が高い。	君は背が高い。	→	君は私と同じくらい背が高い。
I am tall.	You are tall.	→	You are	as tall as	I.
					主格

彼女は速く走る。	彼は速く走る。	→	彼は彼女と同じくらい速く走る。
She runs fast.	He runs fast.	→	She runs	as fast as	he.

　形容詞、副詞の中には、形自体が変化するものもある。

little	less	least
much	more	most

　形容詞、副詞が２音節以上の長い語の場合は、語尾に "er" "est" を付ける代わりにその後の前に "more" "most" を付ける。
